President's Message
I give up. I am done giving back to this industry that has given me a livelihood for the past sixteen years. I have reached my limit and am no longer interested in offering support to my clients. The benefits that I secured for them are no longer important enough for me to care.
Even in jest, I am embarrassed to write the words above. Unfortunately, these statements or a similar proximity thereof that have been shared with me by some NAIFA members who have decided that the organization that they have committed to for years is now no longer worthy of their support. Now, before I fall off my high horse, I do want to say Thank you. Thank you for your years of support for the incredibly important legislative work that NAIFA does on both state and federal level. But at what point is it okay to decide that the promises we made and the industry we chose is no longer important?
Right now, the clients I made promises to regarding their Life Insurance and Annuity contracts are under attack from Federal legislators that would like to eliminate or reduce the tax deferred benefits in these critical planning tools. Clients who have a legitimate need to receive information regarding their families and business' security are being denied access based on well meaning but misinformed FCC legislation. Our Military personnel are being denied contact to insurance professionals who can help protect their families at a time in their lives when protection matters most. Teachers and employees of charitable organizations are losing the opportunity to effectively plan for their retirement. These are just a few of the issues that NAIFA continues to fight for.
If you cared before, if you made these promises before, if you made your livelihood in this industry and have enjoyed the fruits afforded from the efforts of NAIFA and your peers, then why, how, in what capacity is it okay to turn your back now?
